John Phipps

Consultant - Projects


John is a Senior Consultant for Projects. He is an expert in project management and very experienced in high quality operational effectiveness, profitability and accountability of large and complex departments within large and small organisations worldwide, with sole multi-currency budget responsibility. 


John has proven project management skills across a variety of jurisdictions and training abilities in both small and large organisations together with extensive experience in facility management, health & safety, HR, ICT system management, contract negotiation, company administration and staff development. 


Following 14 years serving as an officer (Major) in the HM Forces and 3 years in hotel management, John has spent the last 20 years as Director of Office Services for a leading Jersey legal and trust firm and a Group Facility Manager within a rapidly growing fund administration company. He was responsible for Support Services- Facilities, Health & Safety, Purchasing, Reception, Archiving, Communications, Travel and Catering – 4 Managers and 40 Staff. Involved at a senior level in Marketing, HR, Finance and IT he reported directly to the Senior Partner, Managing Partner and Group Operations Director.


John streamlined all areas of direct responsibility to encompass a 12 hour working day and 45 multi-rolled staff, cost saving measures and efficiency savings, introducing new budgeting and accounting processes to manage a multi-currency ten million pound budget spend.  He successfully implemented and reported on, new office wide policies, client service delivery procedures and practice covering business travel, insurance, Health & Safety, business planning, space planning, purchasing & supplier contract negotiations, various IT systems, IT security, policy and procedures and disaster recovery. He sourced, negotiated, fitted out and opened (and closed) more than 20 office sites worldwide including refurbishments and completely new builds, in addition to recruiting and training office service staff in all locations and successfully implementing new office administration and procurement procedures.


Previously, John served 14 years in the HM Armed Forces rising to the rank of Major and Company Commander.  As a Staff Officer, he was a Senior Operational Manager supervising and controlling internal and external legal disputes and procedures with a multi-national work force of 10,000 staff based in Hong Kong. He was responsible for liaison and co-ordination between local Government, Police, Judge Advocate General’s Department, Courts (Civil and Military), Press and General Public. He also controlled complex budgets.  As a Company Commander, he was a Senior Operational Manager, with operational management for 150 personnel, solely responsible for the day-to-day running of operations, planning, administration and effectiveness of all team members.

  • John is married and has four grown up children. He is a Youth Hockey Coach and enjoys Sea & Fly Fishing, Dog Training, Tennis, Theatre, Reading and Charity Fund raising.
